Google Chrome users are now advised to remove 16 extension that are reported to be security risks. Some of these extensions include screen capture tools, ad blockers and keyboard emoji tools, which have been found to inject harmful scripts into your browser, making data vulnerable to cyber threat and allowing the possibility of search engine fraud.
The range of affected users crosses 3.2 million, and these extensions have been reported by GitLab threat intelligence, hijacked by the prolific threat actor. Such malicious updates have enabled hackers to steal the user data and perform fraud activities by injecting unauthorized advertisement and web traffic manipulation.

All these extensions are meant to be removed immediately and those consumers already using them should use antivirus software to check on any possible malware or other viruses from the devices. These extensions have already been removed from the Chrome web store, but users have to manually delete them from their devices for security concerns.
