Google trials an AI-exclusive version of its search engine.

Google’s newly launched feature for search- AI Mode- is an experimental and completely AI-driven search, which terminate traditional 10 blue links in favor of AI-generated summaries.

Search- AI Mode version of search was launched on this Wednesday by Google of Alphabet, making it now available to Google One AI Premium subscribers, and others can access it from the results page of any search query by clicking on the tab titled "AI Mode," which is located beside the other options like Images or Maps.

Google One AI Premium is a 19.99 dollar a-month plan granting additional cloud storage and special access to AI features. Google has begun releasing AI Overviews- summaries that are showing increasingly prominent positions on top of traditional hyperlinks to relevant webpage content-to users in more than 100 countries.

Last year, ads were added to the AI Overviews. With AI Mode, whereas users had previously seen more comprehensive AI summaries, now they see a search bar to ask follow-up questions. Google said AI Mode is custom-built on the Gemini 2.0 model with reasoning capabilities that uniquely qualify it for addressing complex queries. Primarily, Alphabet's 350 billion in revenue in 2024 came from advertisements tied to search services.
