SBI alerted consumers about fraudulent videos that were circulating on social media.
SBI officials are depicted in these films as approving of investment fraud. The bank made it clear that it was not involved in these schemes. SBI suggested prudence. These deepfakes alter videos with artificial intelligence. They are capable of creating realistic-looking yet false portraits of humans.
State Bank of India (SBI) has cautioned customers and the general public about bogus videos depicting its top officials. These social media videos convey the false claim that SBI's top officials are backing investment proposals that promise unimaginable riches.
SBI made it clear that neither the bank nor its personnel had anything to do with these programs. To avoid falling victim to such frauds, the bank has advised everyone to exercise care.
SBI published a public alert on X (formerly Twitter) informing customers about these films. The post states, "ALERT - PUBLIC CAUTION NOTICE."
In these videos, a person's voice or face can be altered or substituted to make it appear as if they are saying or doing things they are not.
Deepfakes are widely used for nefarious purposes such as scamming, impersonation, and spreading false information. Because they appear so lifelike, they can be difficult to discern from real videos.
WARNING TO THE PUBLIC ABOUT DEEPFAKE VIDEOS
State Bank of India has warned all of its clients and the general public about the propagation of deepfake films of its senior executives on social media that appear to announce or promote specific investment plans.
These movies use technology to encourage viewers to invest in these types of schemes.
We make it clear that neither SBI nor any of its top officials advocate or provide any investment schemes that make excessive or unprecedented claims about returns. As a result, the public is urged not to connect with or believe such deepfake videos that are being posted on social media.
