To compete with the iPad, Google is probably converting Chrome OS to Android

According to reports, Google is attempting to convert Chrome OS into Android in order to provide the best of both worlds on large-screen gadgets such as tablets.

Google has been selling laptops running Chrome OS and Android devices for over ten years. Google is one of the biggest tech businesses in the world. Without a doubt, Android is among the greatest operating systems for smartphones and other small-screen gadgets, but it performs poorly on tablets with larger screens. But, according to a new claim by Android Authority, Google is reportedly working on a multi-year initiative to convert ChromeOS into Android, so that could soon change. The source speculates that Google might be "fully migrating Chrome OS over to Android," in contrast to its earlier attempts to combine two operating systems, albeit nothing is official as of yet. Although Google hasn't confirmed any of this officially, the company has stated in recent months that Chrome OS will be "embracing portions of the Android stack, like the Android Linux kernel and Android frameworks."
According to the article, Google probably wants its next Chromebook to operate on Android, although it is still unknown how the decision will impact Google's Chrome OS or Chromebook branding. The desktop windowing adjustments Google made with Android 15 a few weeks ago appear to have started the process of converting Chrome OS to Android, albeit there is still much more to be done.
